About BetterHomeBids

Independent cost guides for homeowners.

BetterHomeBids is a small independent website for homeowners who are about to spend real money on their house and want to know what is reasonable before they start collecting quotes.

What we publish

Cost guides and simple estimators for window replacement, bathroom remodels and roof replacement. We keep them short and we say where every number comes from.

Where the numbers come from

We do not survey contractors ourselves. The figures on each guide are national estimates taken from published cost data, and each page names its source and the date it was last updated. We review the guides periodically and note the review date on the page.

What we are not

• We are not a contractor, a manufacturer or a call center.
• We do not inspect homes, give quotes or guarantee prices.
• We do not vet or rank the companies you may hear from.

How we are funded

For some projects, our guides include a button that takes you to a service that connects homeowners with local companies. If you request quotes there, that service may pay us a referral fee. It does not change what you are quoted. More in our advertising disclosure.
